Lisa Hough, Fourteen IP’s Head of Support Services, shares her story with us

Tell us a bit about yourself; your career background.

I started my career at Ashland Communications in 2001 working in the service department. I was responsible for processing faults and orders and scheduling engineering visits across the UK.

During my time at Ashland, I was promoted to a Technical Support Supervisor and then to the Service Manager. I continued in my Service Manager role during the acquisition of Ashland by Spiritel PLC in 2006 and then the subsequent acquisition of Spiritel by Daisy Group in 2010.

Not long after the Daisy acquisition, I left to join a new and exciting company called Fourteen IP Communications! When I started at Fourteen IP, I initially continued in the Service Manager role but due to a rapidly increasing team (and customer base ????), I was promoted to Head of Support Services as part of a company restructure.

What three words would you use to describe your role?

Interesting, challenging & evolving.

What are the most challenging aspects of your job?

The fast pace and change. Due to the industry, we are in and the solutions we provide we need to be at the top of our game in all areas. This means we are constantly looking for better ways to work that will improve processes and experiences for both our customers and ourselves. What do you enjoy most about your job?

2 things – The 1st is that every day is different, and it is never boring! I find that days, weeks, and months fly by which is good for me as I would never suit a job where I’d be sat twiddling my thumbs. I need challenges to keep me engaged.

The 2nd thing is the people; we have an amazing team and I do feel that Fourteen IP really embraces the ‘family’ ethos. Everyone has each other’s back and the teams really do pull together when needed. I feel like Fourteen IP is a very happy workplace.

What is your motto?

Give people more than they expect.

I was given a card in a gift pack on pamper night I went to about 10 years ago and it really hit home for me. I still have it on my desk today. For more information about this or any of our News Items call us on +44 1942 369196 or for US +1 407 204 1614
