MCD Release 5.0 delivers on highly sought after hospitality enhancements and has been developed through close integration with partners and customers.

1.     DND Setting – Allow the PMS to configure the DND setting

2.     VIP Status – Display VIP Status of the caller

3.     Personal Wake-Ups – Automatically designate personal wake-up for the guest

4.     Increased Languages – Support more active languages (15)

5.     Language Selection – Select language settings for the guest

6.     Maid ID Codes – Mandatory maid identification for all room status updates

As part of the full service strategy, these features are supported by the MCD Call Control Property Management System (PMS) interface to fully integrate with the hotel’s business systems.

Note: The MCD Call Control PMS link continues to be distinct from the voice mail PMS link.

Enhanced DND Setting

Note: There is no notification to the PMS application whenever the guest changes the DND setting from the room.

Note: Even though DND is set against a room, any expiring wake-up calls will still ring the room. (i.e., wake-ups take precedence over DND.)

VIP Status

High-end hotels provide an enhanced level of service, starting with answering a guest call by name. Delivering the Caller ID with the guest’s VIP Status enables all hotel employees to properly answer the call, along with providing insight as to the purpose of their stay.

MCD Release 5.0 offers nine (9) VIP levels, each having their own label of up to 10 characters. As an example, a hotel can associate the guestroom with Honeymoon guests, Conference attendees, or even NRG (non-registered guest). The VIP labels can even be used to specify nationalities, so that calls can be answered in the guest’s own language.

The guestroom’s VIP level can be managed through the GSA applications of the 5550 IP Console and 5540 IP Console, as well as through the PMS interface. A new field is introduced into the Guest Services window that will manage the VIP level / label of the room.

The guest’s full VIP Label is always presented to the attendant consoles, i.e., 5550 IP Console and 5540 IP Console.

Automatic Personal Wake-Up

MCD Release 5.0 introduces a new guestroom option on whether a wake-up will automatically be converted to a Personal Wake-Up. A Personal Wake-Up is when an attendant or hotel employee personally delivers the wake-up call to the guest. When enabled, all wake-ups for the specific guest are automatically set as Personal Wake-Ups.

Although it’s logical to associate Personal Wake-Ups with VIP guests, this GSA option is a separate feature, independent of the VIP Status setting.

Increased phone display languages

Cruise ships and high end international hotels require more than three active languages. MCD Release 5.0 supports 15 simultaneous languages, depending on set type. The languages are:

English French (Canadian) French (European) German
Italian Spanish (European) Spanish (LA) Dutch
Portuguese (Brazilian) Portuguese (European) Romanian Russian
Swedish Polish Simplified Chinese

The Mitel 53xx IP Phones are able to support all of the above languages. Any other phones that don’t support these languages will default to English. And although intended for the hospitality vertical, Increased Languages is also available for general use.

Note: SX-2000 Per and SX-200 Bay based phones continue to support their current set of languages only.

Language Selection

For hotels with largely international guests, MCD Release 5.0 offers the ability to assign a specific language to the guestroom phones. This, in conjunction with the newly expanded set of 15 languages, makes MCD a powerful international hospitality solution.

Language selection for a specific guestroom can be managed from the attendant consoles (5550 IP Console, 5540 IP Console), as well as by the PMS interface. When a guest “checks in” their language is noted and the phones in the room are changed accordingly. Language aspects include the phone’s display prompts and applications. This is a common requirement for all boutique and luxury hotels.

Note: The guest can configure the phones locally, but these changes will be overridden by the PMS and console interfaces when a new language is selected.

Note: Voice mail systems will continue to have their own PMS connection that applies a selected language for a guest.

Note: Language selection is supported resiliently. When the language of a device is changed, the language selection on the secondary will also be updated.

Note: SIP Devices have their own language settings, and unless specified will not be affected by MCD Release 5.0 language changes.

Maid Identification

In order to deliver enhanced quality in hotels and enforce accountability, maids can be required to identify themselves whenever there are changes to a guestroom status. For example, once a room is cleaned, the maid can call in the change but it will only be accepted if a valid identification code is entered.

This identification code can be their ID code. The ID code is verified and, if found to be invalid, a reorder tone is returned and an invalid message is displayed. If the ID code is deemed to be valid, a confirmation tone is returned and the Maid ID information is transmitted to the PMS system as part of a new Room Status PMS update.

A new Hospitality Option “Room Status – Maid ID Required” will force entry of the Maid ID code.

An attendant can also update the Room Status and the PMS will be notified of the new Occupancy / Condition via a PMS notification message. In this case, the Maid ID will be the Attendant DN.

New Multi-device Suite License

MCD Release 5.0 introduces a new Multi-device Suite License. This new Suite License is used in hospitality solutions where up to six devices can be configured in a suite, while only consuming a single license. The underlying devices do not require separate licenses.

This new Multi-device Suite License is intended to simplify and cost reduce the Hospitality Solution where hotels require multiple devices in a single Guest Room. In such situations guests are only ever active on one device at a time. If a guest is already on a call and a second non prime Multicall line rings, the guest places the call on hold and then answers the second line.

With the new Multi-device Suite License, incoming calls can only be directed at the suite number. Individual member devices cannot be dialed directly.

If any of the extensions within the single Suite are currently on a call, outbound calls on the other extensions can only be made to the attendant or as emergency calls. In other words, outgoing calls can only be made from one device at a time, unless dialing an Emergency Service or Attendant.

All outbound presentations from the members of the suite are represented as the suite and not the individual extensions.

In the case where people need to make multiple calls simultaneously from within the suite, then each phone can still be licensed individually, as it is today.

This new Multi-device Suite License can be allocated onto the new MCD Hospitality base packages only.

These new Hospitality Base Packages are being introduced to support the new Hospitality Solution.
